18-Year-Old Bilkisu Ndatsu Launches A Book In Minna



Niger state is widely regarded as a reservoir of writers, because of its history of literary exploits. This assertion was recently reiterated when 18 years old Bilkisu Ndatsu’s book, “The Truth” was presented to the public, in Minna.
The book launch which was held at the Adulsalami Abubakar Youth Centre on the 26th May 2016 was a materialization of the young author’s dreams.

The author’s father Alhaji Ndatsu, while welcoming the guests to the event opined that the launch was a positive response to friends who advised the family to put it together as a way of encouraging the author and motivating other children to take to creative thinking and writing.
He urged parents to support and encourage their children to fully develop their talents in order to fully maximize their potentials.
The author, who is a Medical Student at a University in Sudan, started writing as a student of the prestigious El-Amin International College, Minna. She had completed the book while still a student at the college and while she was about writing her final secondary school certificate examination.

The book review was presented by Paul T. Liam, who submitted that The Truth is a novella that tells a titillating story that seeks to reawaken the public’s consciousness to the plight of girl-child in the society.
It also attempts to teach its readers on the need to imbibe the virtue of truthfulness, honesty, resilience, patience and respect for one’s parents. Although, the book is most suitable for younger readers and teenage girls as it would serve as a motivation to them, it can be read by adults too, for the lessons in it can be beneficial to all category of folks.
The Emir of Lapai, in his remark appreciated the young author for her determination and for making her parents proud by authoring a book at her young age.

He encouraged parents and the government to support the young ones in developing their talents.
Senator Zainab Kure, in her remark applauded the young author’s audacity and marveled at her dexterity in writing such a mature book in spite of her age and science background.
She acknowledged the author’s insight and wise handling of the multiple plots in the story. She said that, she is a voracious reader and that she actually read the book from the start to the finish and was happy to have been invited as the chief presenter and launcher.
The representative of the Governor’s wife, Hajiya Amina Waziri, applauded the author for writing the book and said it would serve as a source of inspiration to other young girls. She donated generously and bought copies of the book for the secondary school students in attendance.

The event which attracted the presence of eminent personalities was anchored by Mr Shaka Daba, some of the distinguished guests included; the Emir of Lapai, Engineer Umar Tafida, Senator Zainab Kure who was the chief launcher and presenter, representative of the Speaker of the Niger State House of Aseembly, Special Adviser to the Governor on Girl-child education, Hajiya Amina Waziri who stood in for the wife of the governor of Niger State, wife of the Deputy Governor, Hajiya Ketsu, Niger State Head of Service, Hon. Justice Idris Evuti, Pius Wakili who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Zone B affairs, Vice Principal of El-Amin International College, Permanent Secretaries, students and the author’s parent, Alhaji and Hajiya Ndatsu were all in attendance.
