PRESS RELEASE BY NANS JOINT CAMPUS COMMITTEE NIGER AXIS DATED 27TH JUNE, 2016


Gentlemen of the press, Distinguished Nigerian Students

I great you all in the spirit of struggle and solidarity for all.

NANS Joint Campus Committee Niger Axis wishes to use this medium to thank the entire Nigerian students for their calmness and steadfast in the face of provocation and appeal for their continued patience, decorum, peace and tranquility across campuses within Niger state.

This address in coming in lieu of the despicable and unfortunate incidence that occur at IBB University Lapai where a lecturer molest and physically assaulta student of the institution. The leadership of NANS
frown at such malicious and unprofessional conduct of the lecturer, hence paid a visit to the management of the institution demanding justice for the student and finding lasting solution to such occurrence in future.
   
Consequently, on arrival the ever dynamic and indefatigable Dean of Student was on ground to brief delegation of the management respond to the clarion-call and put in place the following in order to ensure that justice serve vis-à-vis.
Set up a committee to investigate the immediate and remote cause of the incidence.
The committee have the representation of both SUG, AASU, Servicom and other top principal officer of the institution
The V.C have assured the organization that justice will be done in order to serve as deterrence for such reoccurrence in future.
That the university would continue to provide an
enabling and conducive environment for Nigerian students to pursue their studies without intimidation or any form of hindrance.
That the university would communicate the resolution of the committee within one week and have assured of continued partnership with SUG, NANS in all strata.
Finally let me assure the entire Nigerian students that we would not rest on oars until the issue of student welfarism is to longer and issue, thus urge and appeal to Nigerian students to remain calm and go about there normal activities.
