Sympathisers gather at the scene of the accident near NYSC Junction on Kubwa-Zuba expressway yesterday
Seven people died in an early morning accident on thursday,on the Kubwa-Zuba expressway.
The dead, comprising two young females and five males, were said to be coming from the city centre when the Toyota Camry car they were driving lost control, knocked down a street light pole and crossed a drainage before crashing at the foot of a flyover.

A resident of NYSC Junction in Kubwa, which is not far from the scene of the crash, disclosed to our reporter that they were attracted to the accident spot by the sound of the crash around 4:00a.m. and that they rushed to the scene immediately.
He said they found the driver and all the passengers dead when they arrived at the scene, adding that all the vehicle’s doors had to be forcefully opened before the victims were evacuated to the Kubwa General Hospital morgue by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The Divisional Police Officer of Kubwa, CSP Ayobami Surajudeen, who confirmed the incident, said so far the police were only able to identify one name out of the seven dead people and gave the name as Aderibigbe Abayomi who happened to be driver of the car.
He said the vehicle suffered an electrical fault which made the driver to lose control while on speed.
He said the vehicle rammed into the pillar so much that there was no survivor.
“They are all young people. The identification on the man suspected to be the driver did not correspond with the name on the vehicle’s registration. We identified only a Yoruba and Calabar name. The others are yet to be identified,” he said.
He said the corpses were deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital’s mortuary.
