‘New airport road’ll have five bridges’

The Lagos State Government says the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road, Oshodi, which is currently being reconstructed to a 10-lane road will have five bridges, consisting  two flyovers and three pedestrian bridges.

At a stakeholders’ meeting on the reconstruction of the road on Thursday, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode urged residents and  stakeholders to bear the inconveniences that would be experienced during the reconstruction.
He stated that the meeting was to let the residents be in the know in line with the inclusive policy of the government.
He said, “The huge financial resources being committed to this project are sourced from the Internally Generated Revenue of the state government, and the project will be toll-free.
“The expanded gateway will enhance vehicular movement and also eliminate the gridlock experienced by commuters travelling outside the country and those coming in. The construction of the various bridges will reduce travel time.”
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Jimi Hotonu, said the government convened the meeting to address the anxiety of stakeholders.
