The National Automobile Technicians Association, NATA, Niger state Chapter have endorsed Hon. Joshua Bawa of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as their governorship candidate.
The President of NATA pronounced the endorsement today in Minna during a courtesy call paid to them by the Gubernatorial Candidate.
The President of NATA who spoke on behalf of the members said Hon. Bawa was the first candidate to visit them since the electioneering period started.
He commended Hon. Bawa's efforts, describing him to be a diligent, committed and hardworking man.
The President further stated that the association was ready to work with Hon. Bawa and to render their unreserved support to him at all times.
The President, however, mentioned that the Association has a lot of graduates, but the lack of training and retraining, ease of movement and some financial constraints may force them out of the job.
They also lamented on the unbearable high rate of tax accrued to them.
On his part, Hon. Joshua Bawa thanked the Association for their warm welcome, while expressing his delight of being endorsed by them.
Hon. Bawa promised to incorporate the Association as part of the government when assumes the office of Governor, Niger state.
He also promised to train and certify members of the Association even if it meant taking them outside the shores of Nigeria.
Hon. Bawa further stated that during his administration, thrirty-six percent of members of the Association must be women and a scholarship for every female technician will be introduced.
The Gubernatorial Candidate addressed the issue of non-indigene discrimination, and said the issue will be abolished, stating how obvious the people in the state have been living in peace, and lamented that if the so called non-indigenes have been paying taxes, then they all should share equal rights.
He further stressed on the issue of residency and promised the elimination of this discrimination when voted into office.
The highpoint of the event was the dressing of Hon. Joshua Bawa with the uniform of the Technicians which symbolizes him to be one of them.
