On Todays episode of FABs 14 questions we have a phenomenal man, he is a rapper, an actor, an OAP . we ask him some questions to know him better, His unique style of music sets him apart from his contemporaries... read and enjoy......
Please introduce yourself?
My name is Usman Tokurah popularly known as Alhaji 2clint. Born June 12th , graduate of Theatre Arts from the university of Abuja. Alhaji 2clint is an actor, Rap artist, broadcast journalist and a poet.
Wow , only you? You have so much going..how do you balance all of these?
The joy is I love all of them and they are all related in one way or the other. For me I bite what I can chew per time, I am currently focusing on my job as an OAP and a Rapper,I am the Programs/Studio manager at Ultimate FM 103.9 Minna, when you enjoy all you do, you do them effortlessly.
What would you say is a major challenge faced by artists in the entertainment industry?
The music industry is doing fine with all honesty despite the poor support from the government. The major challenge artist face is finance, em, Everything about music is money related from the studio session, promotion, movement and even physical appearance. Music artists do not really support themselves as the comedians in Lagos do, we still have this bad blood among most artists and it is a major stumbling block to their progress.
Would you say Niger State is a fertile soil for entertainment?
Yes, very fertile but unfortunately , The state is yet to have a leadership that will see that and utilize these talents for the progress of the state economically and as well as to reduce youth restiveness. Niger state is one of the few states blessed with young talents ranging from acting, music, dancing, poetry, visual art, etc but sadly everyone wants to relocate somewhere else because the platform is not there. I am doing my little best to bridge this gap by creating awareness using the media and in public forums.
You just welcomed a baby , how did that feel?
You know that feeling you get when you just made your first 2 million dollars, that's the feeling I got when I saw my son first the first time, it changed my world totally .
What would you love your baby to grow to know about you?
Wow, i did not see that one coming. I want him to know his father as a man that stood for humanity, not religion not tribe but humanity.
What keeps you going?
Knowing that God almighty is my strength and His Favour is always with me.
If you were to only focus on one of your talents which would it be?
That is difficult now, I love them all, five years ago I would have told you acting but now, perhaps my life as an OAP. I love the cover it gives me at times
As a married man in the industry what would you say is a major challenge?
Lol!" Faith na wa o", No challenge, but then you are not as free as you should. The most important thing is to have a supportive and understanding spouse.
You have many artists under you, do you have a record label?
Not officially, what I do is encourage, guide and support them in the little I can. I love seeing talented and passionate artists.
What has been your worst experience in the industry?
No worst experience, every experience good or bad takes me to the next level.
What should we expect from you this year ?
I am dropping another single few days to my birthday and my fans should watch out for My Sister video soon,And you might catch me on screen acting again this year.
What is your advice to talents that feel un noticed and at the verge of giving up?
Believe in yourself first and foremost, stay focused, be consistent, be open to genuine criticism and above all pray to God so he would bless and Favour your efforts.
What message to you tend to pass through music?
Love, peace, unity, Respect for women and children, Justice for all and self confidence. This the reason I try to do timeless songs with messages that people can relate with. Songs like Make sense, Over come, Show some love, My Sister, Special day and many others, still working on some more.
Thank you for your time.
